Privacy Policy
Short version: Ties has no servers, no accounts, no analytics and no tracking. Your relationships stay on your devices and in your own private iCloud. We never see them.
What Ties stores
The people you add, how you categorize them, moments you log, notes, promises, important dates and your settings. This data is stored on your device. If iCloud sync is on, it is also stored in your private iCloud database, which only your Apple Account can access. You can turn sync off in Settings → Intelligence & privacy.
Contacts
Ties asks for access to your contacts only after you tap Continue during setup or in Settings, and it works without that access (for example with demo people).
What is read: for each contact, the name, phone numbers, email addresses, company, job title, birthday, city from the postal address, and the contact's thumbnail photo. Ties does not read notes, relations or other fields.
What happens with it: the contacts are copied into Ties' own database on your device, so you can sort them into your circles, decide later or mark them as not relevant. Ties never writes to or changes your contacts.
Where it is stored: only on your device and, if iCloud sync is on, in your own private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit), which only your Apple Account can access. Ties has no servers. Your contact list is never uploaded to us or to any third party, never shared, never sold and never used for advertising, tracking or training. To place a contact's city on the map, the city name is looked up with Apple Maps; the result stays on your device.
Control: you can revoke access at any time in the Settings app (Ties → Contacts). People you imported stay in Ties until you delete them; deleting the app removes them from your device, and the iCloud copy can be deleted as described under "Deleting your data" below.
Calendar
With your permission, Ties reads your calendar on your device to recognize meetings with people you know. Ties does not copy your calendar or upload it anywhere, and it never writes to your calendar. Only what you log yourself, such as how a meeting went, is saved, like everything else in Ties.
Location and maps
The globe shows where the people in your life live, based on the city or address you enter for them. To place a city on the map and to suggest places while you type, Ties uses Apple Maps: the place name is sent to Apple to look it up, and the result is stored on your device. Ties asks for your own location only when you tap the location button on the map, uses it to center the map, and does not store or share it. Nothing is sent to us.
Intelligence
Suggestions, search and summaries run on your device, using Apple's on-device models where available. Relationships you mark as private are never analysed. Nothing is sent to us or to third-party AI services.
Notifications, widgets and Live Activities
Reminders are scheduled locally on your device. Widgets and Live Activities read a small summary that Ties keeps on your device.
What we collect
Nothing. Ties contains no analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs and does not collect personal data. If you opt in to share crash reports with developers in your device settings, Apple may provide anonymized diagnostics to us.
Deleting your data
Delete the app to remove all data from your device. To remove the iCloud copy, go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage → Ties → Delete Data.
Children
Ties is not directed at children under 13.
